The evil actions and events which seem to be occurring at an increasingly more disturbing rate (which are not unprecedented by any means) have been leaving us wondering how to move forward without diminishing the reality of the important attention needed for change.
First and foremost, we do not condone any of the actions witnessed at the Capital or any previous event deemed as racist or violent. We denounce white supremacy and the outward actions or quiet beliefs of those who stand by them.
At Storybook we enforce these beliefs through internal and external processes such as the following:
-
We will not build relationships with those who justify hate and racist actions.
-
We will develop and strengthen a more inclusive list of vendors for our wedding planning clients.
-
We will do better at amplifying the voices of black womxn of color
-
We will do better at diversifying the accounts and businesses that we personally follow.
-
We vow to diversify the content that we share.
These are amongst many other promises and dedicated work from the individual planners on our team. (To read more about our founder’s course of action you can read her letter here)
Storybook understands that there won’t ever be a time that we can go back to “business as usual” and we are grateful for the realization. Because, if we did, nothing would ever change.
Here is to the continued work.
