When we first met Sarah, the daughter of William and Kathy, we spoke about her visions, ideas, requests and budgets for her parents’ anniversary party. She had thrown a smaller anniversary party for them once before, but wanted to make a statement for her parents 40th!

After scouting several venues, we booked Smith Street Station, www.durtynellies.com in Palatine, Illinois. The venue was perfect for holding our guest count of 70 and had a gorgeous large bar with plenty of room for dancing and a DJ! We worked with Bridget whom helped us put together our cocktail and dinner menu. Bridget and Smith Street Station were extremely accommodating and made sure that we stayed within our client’s budget.

One of our favorite aspects about an event is the design and inspiration and we made sure to incorporate the tradition of the 40th Anniversary. Ruby!!! This was definitely a fun color to work with! We worked with Windy City Linen, www.windycitylinen.com and brought in rich Burgandy Crush Linens for the dinner tables, sweets station and for the place card and gift tables. However, we did need to be mindful that our venue had a lot of darker wood walls and wood floors. In order to not wash out the beauty of the rich table linen, we utilized beautiful ivory lamour runners and ivory lamour napkins.

Storybook Chicago, www.storybookchicago.com rented gorgeous pillar candles and votives and provided floral for the head table.  The sparkle of the candles reflected beautifully on the linens.

The day of the event, the guests danced to the music provided by First in Flight Entertainment, www.firstinflightentertainment.com and enjoyed sweets from our clients’ favorite bakery, House of Cakes, www.houseofcakeschicago.com . The team from Smith Street Station was extremely attentive, created delicious cocktails and had outstanding service overall! We cannot wait to work with them again.

“What an AMAZING event!!! I hired Storybook Weddings & Events to help plan my parent’s 40th Wedding Anniversary party and I knew from the moment that I met Nicole the event was going to be perfect. Nicole and I met on several occasions to go over my likes, dislikes, do’s and do not’s and during each meeting she took everything I said to heart.
