Chicago Hotel and Special Event Venue
Chicago Hotel and Venue | The Robey
This cool, new, art-deco hotel is located in Wicker Park at 2018 W. North Ave. It sits right on the Six Corners of Damen, Milwaukee, and North Avenue. The Robey’s name comes from Robey Street, Damen’s previous name! The street’s name was changed from Robey to Damen in 1927, after Father Arnold Damen, a Dutch Jesuit priest and Chicago legend. Father Damen founded Holy Family Church in 1860 and Chicago’s first Jesuit school, Saint Ignatius College in 1869.
The hotel was formerly an office building, but now hosts 69 hotel rooms and private event spaces. Although it is not large enough to host a large wedding, The Robey would be a perfect place to host any of the events surrounding a wedding. Think engagement party, bachelor/bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, and post-wedding brunch.
The hotel has a fantastic rooftop with an indoor seating area called the Cabana Club, allowing you to still enjoy the roof in the event of inclement weather. To top off their amazing view of downtown Chicago, the roof has a tiny but uniquely-shaped wading pool. And their rooftop lounge, called the Up & Up, is very sophisticated and has a very cool private table that is located in the building’s bell tower!
The Hollander
Connected to The Robey is/will be their sister hotel, called The Hollander, which will be more similar to a hostel concept. It will have 20 rooms and will be better suited for families and small groups. It comes with the option of sleeping in shared rooms. The Hollander will have a very industrial coffee shop/bike repair shop! Just what we look for
!Although we are in the midst of winter as we type, we cannot wait until the weather gets warm enough to be able to wade in the pool of The Robey, of course, while we sip on a cocktail. In the meantime, we can still enjoy the amazing views from their indoor rooftop lounge.
