Adele and Phillip’s winter wedding was an absolute dream! We worked with them on not only the wedding day but their big, fun rehearsal dinner. When we were beginning the design journey we talked about how we wanted guests to feel the moment they walked into the grand Cathedral Hall at the University Club of Chicago. Because the wedding was in December we know they would already have their holiday decor in place, and we want to lean in their wintery classic vibe while also not leaning too heavily in the direction of being woodsy or Christmas themed. We landed on a timeless palette of winter white, greens, and accents of a champagne gold to fill the space. For the rehearsal dinner and welcome party at The Casino Club; however, we wanted it to feel distinctly different and lean into the holiday season with evergreens, pops of red, silver and a sleek black.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted at The Casino Club that has a very 1920s flair. We kicked it off with guests being greeted with christmas themed martinis and plenty of champagne. The event was filled with bright, cherry reds with poppies and evergreens in black mirrored vessels and accented by the club’s beautiful white feather tree and wreaths. Nancy Chase really outdid herself with the mix of round and rectangular tables filled with arrangements that made the room feel warm, inviting and perfectly in season in an elevated and glamorous way.
The next morning began with all of the ladies getting ready together at the University Club with Joanna B Artistry and KMD Hair Design. The bridal bouquet was textural with fluffy blooms of garden roses, ranunculus, and peonies. Eucalyptus and ruscus were blended throughout the blooms and floor length emerald and white velvet ribbons around the stems finished the look.
The reception was breathtaking as guests were greeted with twinkling lights and gorgeous florals provided by Vale of Enna. The 40ft head table had a luscious greenery garland with white blooms weaved throughout it and plenty of candle light to fill the space. We had two different looks on the round tables. One was low and lush with a mix of blooms and greens and the other was tall organic greens billowing above the guests.
Both events were tied together with custom stationery designs from Mulberry and Elm. The watercolor, soft greenery wreath that was a part of their monogram became a driving force of inspiration for the decor as well as the rest of the stationery pieces. The monogram was utilized throughout almost all of the paper goods for all of the events. The calligraphy ornament escort cards and hand calligraphy on the placecards at each setting were an elegant touch along with the custom laser and watercolor painted cake topper from Pulp and Ink.
They decided on an east coast style wedding where The Chicago Players celebrated with guests from the moment they walked into the reception. They kicked it off with a dance party and Adele and Phillip were announced into the room and surrounded by all of their guests as they did their first dance. The energy in the room was unbelievable and they danced the night away and added some holiday headbands, noise makers, and glow sticks to keep the party going. Once the reception ended they continued with their after party with DJ Akib in the Library of The University Club.
This wedding weekend was a celebration of the year and was captured by Clary Pfeiffer. It was a perfect couple of days filled with so much joy, beauty, and love. Congratulations again Adele and Phillip! We wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness ahead.
